Koreans in Uzbekistan Mark Anniversary of Korea's Liberation
Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- Koreans in Uzbekistan held a rally on August 12 to mark the 67th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

Present there were members of the "Old Men's" Association for Korean Cultural Tradition in Uzbekistan, heads of Korean compatriots' art troupes and Koreans in Uzbekistan.

Ju Yong Il, chairman of the association, made a speech at the rally.

He said that Korea's liberation was a historic event that put an end to the brutal colonial rule by Japanese imperialism, brought genuine freedom and happiness to the Korean people and made the motherland a legitimate independent and sovereign state.

After the liberation, Korea has turned into a powerful socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence with its own party, state and army, he noted.

Today the DPRK has made great achievements in building a thriving socialist nation, demonstrating its might as a nuclear weapons state and a country manufacturing and launching satellites, he said.

As there is the dear leader Kim Jong Un, the future of the DPRK is rosy, a thriving nation is sure to be built and national reunification will be certainly achieved, he concluded.

Then followed an art performance.
