Recovery from Flood Damage Makes Headway in South Phyongan Province
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The work to recover from the flood damage is making brisk headway in South Phyongan Province.

Servicepersons successfully carried out the operation to repair the railroad bed from Kaechon to Joyang and Sunchon, ensuring the safety in the train operation.

Service personnel joined residents in Sinyang County in carrying a large amount of earth and doing a huge stone work to restore a 500-meter-long road in a short span of time. In the meantime, those in Sampho-dong of Kaechon City succeeded in completing the project for the rehabilitation of the dyke along the Namchon River.

Servicepersons and people repaired the dyke in the 270 meter-long section, cleared mud piled up on waterways in Maengsan County and carried out the project for building a floor slab at a kindergarten in the Pukchang County seat.

Lots of banks and buildings, roads totaling 230km and railways in the section of 19km, etc., have been restored in the province, bringing the people's living to normal and putting the operation of vehicles and trains on a normal footing.

Anju City repaired at least 5,000 dwelling houses left inundated or partially destroyed.

Songchon and Sinyang Counties are dynamically pushing forward the repair of hundreds of houses.

A vigorous drive is now under way in the province to reconstruct educational and public health buildings or build new ones.

More than 14,000 hectares of farmland hit by the flood are being recovered.
