Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory Introduced by Xinhua, China
Pyongyang, August 11 (KCNA) -- The Xinhua News Agency introduced Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory on August 2.

It said that most of the members of the Moranbong Band personally organized by the supreme leader Kim Jong Un of the DPRK this year are graduates from Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory. This prestigious conservatory is like a cradle for artistes of the DPRK.

Referring to the history of the conservatory, the news agency continued:

Not a few graduates from the conservatory proved successful at many international contests and received the title of Merited Artiste. They are playing the role as musical talents.

There is a systematic educational system for training talented artistes in the DPRK.

For example, there are art schools and children's palaces, extra-curricular educational centers, in every province and city of the country.

Various provinces select students with high artistic skills among those students who have finished the eleven-year compulsory education and give them an opportunity to take exams with a view to training talented artists. Those students who obtained excellent marks in the exams enter Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory.

Its students are given lectures and provided with board and lodging free of charge.

After their graduation, they become teachers or join such prestigious art organizations of the DPRK as the Moranbong Band, the Unhasu Orchestra, the Mansudae Art Troupe and the National Symphony Orchestra.

The news agency also said that songs in praise of the great men including the song "Footstep" are popular among the service personnel and people in the DPRK.
