KCNA Brands Japan as Corrupt Country
Pyongyang, August 7 (KCNA) -- An event took place at the U.S. Capitol on July 24 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the resolution related to the issue of sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army.

Participants at the event expressed concern about the Japanese authorities turning their faces away from the resolution which called on Japan to make apology and reparation for reducing many Asian women including Korean women to sexual slaves for the Japanese army.

They stated that it is necessary to refer the issue of sexual slavery committed by the Japanese army to the UN and develop the resolution into an international treaty punishing those who sexually assaulted women in wartime period.

This indicates the daily growing resentment of the international community at Japan which has not admitted even the Japanese imperialists' sexual assaults against women during World War II.

The Japanese imperialists kidnapped or forcibly took away 200,000 women from Korea alone in the last century and reduced them to sexual slaves for aggressor forces. They did not hesitate to massacre those women in a bid to conceal their horrible crimes.

The sexual slavery committed by the Japanese imperialists was a hideous crime against humanity which can hardly be found in human history.

Nevertheless, the Japanese authorities still refuse to make honest apology and reparation for Japan's past barbarous crimes.

Japan's prime minister takes the lead in it. He has made unethical remarks, claiming that the expression of sexual slavery for the Japanese army was wrong. These thoughtless remarks made by the chief executive are enough to indicate the stand and attitude of Japanese politicians to the issue of post-war handling of Japan.

Openly heard from the Japanese reactionaries are such reckless remarks as branding the sexual slavery committed by the Japanese army as "deeds of individual procurers for prostitution" and "victims' voluntary acts for earning money". All these are attributable to such stand of officials concerned in Japan.

Japan is, indeed, a corrupt country whose moral vulgarity has reached the extreme phase.

It denies a word of sexual slavery and does not admit the crimes related to it. Lurking behind this is the ulterior and foolish attempt of Japan to keep its blood-strained history buried into oblivion by evading an official apology and reparation for its heinous crimes against humanity.

The denial of crime-woven history is nothing but an open support for it and revelation of its attempt to repeat those crimes. Such sinister intention can never be overlooked.

If the thrice-cursed crimes committed by the Japanese army in violating women's rights are tolerated, there will be no need to discuss the genuine morality and human rights of the world.

This is the reason that many countries in the world and even those countries and regions having some relations with Japan are urging the Japanese government to make sincere apology and reparation for Japan's sexual slavery in the past.

It is as clear as noonday that if the issue of Japan's avoidance of apology and reparation is tabled at the UN and an international treaty punishing crimes against women during wartime is concluded, Japan's political situation will become all the more awkward in the international arena. This is becoming a reality.

Japan should behave itself, clearly facing up to the trend of the times.
