DPRK Suffers Damage from Flood
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- The flooding, triggered by typhoon and downpour, swept some areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea from late June to July 31, causing big human and material losses in the country.

According to data available, the flood left 169 people dead, 144 injured and 400 missing.

It also destroyed more than 8,600 dwelling houses totally or partially and submerged 43,770 houses in North and South Phyongan and Hamgyong provinces, Jagang Province and other areas, making 212,200 people homeless.

At least 65,280 hectares of cropland were washed away, buried and inundated across the country, including 23,400 hectares and 21,900 hectares respectively in North and South Phyongan provinces, 7,220 hectares and 5,670 hectares respectively in North and South Hamgyong provinces.

More than 1,400 educational, healthcare and factory buildings were collapsed and inundated, which cover 260,650 square meters.
