Anniversary of Kim Jong Il's Visit to Russia Observed
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- A photo exhibition was opened at the Pyongyang Centre for Cultural Exchange with Foreign Countries under the co-sponsorship of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (KCCRFC), the Russian embassy here and the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association on Wednesday. It was to mark the 10th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's visit to Far Eastern region of the Russian Federation and the first anniversary of his visit to Siberian and Far Eastern regions of the federation.

Seen in the venues of the exhibition were portraits of Kim Jong Il who left his immortal footprints in the above-said regions in order to develop the DPRK-Russia friendship onto a new higher phase.

Displayed there were photos introducing Russia.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Jong Suk, chairwoman of the KCCRFC, Ryu Kyong Il, vice-chairman of the association, officials concerned, working people in Pyongyang, and Ambassador Alexandr Timonin and staff members of the Russian embassy here.

Speeches were made at the ceremony.

A film show was held at the Taedongmun Cinema on the same day.

The participants watched the Korean documentary film "The great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il pays unofficial visit to Siberian and Far Eastern regions of Russia" (from August 20 to 25, 2011).
