KCNA Commentary Terms Japan Very Stingy
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- It was reported shortly ago that the German government agreed to pay compensation worth hundreds of millions of U.S. dollars to Jews in the former Soviet Union who survived World War II.

The international community is duly appreciating Germany for making sincere repentance and compensation to the Jewish victims after recognizing its moral and historical responsibility for what was done against them.

This good behavior of Germany once again brought Japan's attitude towards its past crimes into bolder relief, sparking off strong criticism of the international community.

In the first half of the last century Japan forcibly took away more than 8.4 million young and middle-aged Koreans from their country alone and massacred at least a million of them. It forced more than 200 000 Korean women into sexual slavery, savagely violating their chastity and killing them in cold-blood.

This was the most hideous crimes against humanity among the crimes perpetrated by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean nation.

Nevertheless, Japan has justified its history of aggression against Korea, far from admitting its crimes in the wartime. Japan claims it made a "contribution" to the development of the Korean nation, a serious insult to it.

The world is stunned by Japan's approach towards the issue of "comfort women", in particular.

Through the rewriting of school textbooks Japan attempted to delete the expression of "comfort women" and gloss over the issue of sexual slavery through such farce as "compensation" with the fund raised by people.

Of late Japan refuses to admit this. It has gone the lengths of rubbing salt into the wounds of victims by making such reckless remarks as "they were voluntary" and "it was just a history of bathrooms ", not content with jabbering that "they were deeds of individual businessmen".

A Japanese diplomat attempted to bribe Americans in a bid to get a monument to comfort women in New Jersey State removed only to be chided by the world again.

Voices critical of that behavior and calling for severe punishment of Japan are heard even from U.S. Congress.

Japan is characterized not only by political and moral vulgarity but by the height of shameless and brazen-faced nature.

This is the main reason why Japan is now finding itself in such bottomless political dilemma inside and outside, rebuffed by the international community, though it once talked a lot about "economic prosperity."

Its base attitude denying its crime-woven history resulted in throwing all fabrics of its society into mayhem and rendering it depraved politically and morally.

Japan has, therefore, no future.
