Minju Joson Denounces Japan's Moves to Use Space for Its Military Purposes
Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Some days ago the bill on the revision of the Law on Space Mechanism passed the House of Councilors of Japan by a majority vote. The previous definition that the activities of the mechanism for the research and development of aerospace are for "peaceful purposes" was deleted from the law.

Minju Joson Wednesday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard: The revised law remarkably widened the sphere of moves for turning Japan into a military power, bringing to light the ulterior intention of the Japanese reactionaries to create favorable conditions for realizing their militaristic ambition for overseas expansion.

Their intention to use outer space for their military purposes is a grave threat to the global peace and security and a wanton violation of international law, the commentary notes, and goes on:

Japan felt the need to develop nuclear delivery means after acquiring the technology to produce nuclear weapons, prompted by its deeply rooted ambition to go nuclear. Hence, it has been engrossed in indigenously developing prototype rockets including H-2, H-2A and H-2B which are technologically capable of operating as nuclear carrier rockets in case of contingency.

The Japanese reactionaries' extension of the sphere of the moves for converting Japan into a military giant even to space is designed to develop space weapons so that they may effectively use them for military operations for future overseas invasion.

Japan's moves for militarizing space are bringing about a change in the structure of military confrontation as evidenced by the upsetting of equilibrium of forces in East Asia. This leads to an arms race and the escalation of the tension.

No wonder, the neighboring countries of Japan and the international community watched the revision of its Law on Space Mechanism with nervousness and caution.

Intolerable are the moves of the Japanese reactionaries to turn the peaceful space into a theatre of war.
