The work, made public on August 4, 1997, clarifies the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung for national reunification and formulates the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification.

The work also indicates tasks and ways for reunifying the country on the basis of the charters.
