Kang Pan Sok, Indomitable Revolutionary
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- July 31 marks the 80th anniversary of the death of Kang Pan Sok, mother of President Kim Il Sung.

Kang Pan Sok, an indomitable revolutionary, contributed to opening up a new era of modern Korea by actively assisting her son's revolutionary activities.

Kim Il Sung's ardent patriotism and noble personality were cultivated by her honest love for him.

It was in the early period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle that Kim Il Sung called on her mother with a sack of cereal upon hearing the news her sickness went from bad to worse.

At that time she scolded her son, saying she never thought he would carry a sack of cereal to support her.

Then she earnestly urged his son to dedicate his time only to the revolutionary activities for the Korean nation suffering from the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule.

Recalling the days, Kim Il Sung in his reminiscences "With the Century" wrote:

"The love she showed me was not simply a motherly love. It was true revolutionary affection with which she regarded me as the son of the nation rather than her own son and awakened me to the need to give priority to loyalty to the country over filial piety towards my parents."
