National Memorial Service for Kang Pan Sok Held
Pyongyang, July 31 (KCNA) -- A national memorial service was held at the People's Palace of Culture Tuesday, the 80th anniversary of the death of Kang Pan Sok, an indomitable revolutionary fighter and outstanding leader of the Korean women's movement.

Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Choe Yong Rim and Choe Ryong Hae, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), and other senior officials of the party, state and army, officials of the party, armed forces and power organs, social organizations, ministries and national institutions, service personnel of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, literature and arts, public health and media, labor innovators, working people, the chief of the Anti-imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans.

Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a memorial address.

He said that Kang Pan Sok was an ardent patriot who devoted her all to the movement for the country's independence and thus made a great contribution to bringing the dawn of the country's liberation.

He went on:

She took the lead in the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle of Korea, helping Kim Hyong Jik in his revolutionary activities to pave the way for making a switchover to the proletarian revolution from the nationalist movement.

She implanted a genuine outlook on life and revolution into the mind of her son, President Kim Il Sung. Under her ardent and true love, he grew up to be an outstanding leader of revolution and embarked on the sacred struggle for the country's liberation, shouldering upon himself the future of the country and Koreans.

She was teacher of people and great mother of revolution as she taught them how to live and struggle for the country, the nation and revolution by setting an example herself.

Short as her life was, her noble feats are recorded in history as a heroic epic because she was an ardent patriot and indomitable revolutionary fighter who dedicated her family and life to the country's independence and people's freedom and liberation.

The cause of the country's independence and women's emancipation so much desired by Kang Pan Sok was successfully accomplished by Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the DPRK, a socialist country, is dynamically advancing toward fresh victory while demonstrating the invincibility of Songun Korea under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.
