Three Gilt-bronze Buddhist Statues Discovered in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Three gilt-bronze Buddhist statues, believed to date back to the late period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392) or the early period of Ri Dynasty (1392-1910), were discovered in Piro Peak of Mt. Kumgang in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The statues are exhibited at the Korean Central History Museum.

They consist of Amida Buddha, 15.2 cm high, in the middle, Ksitigarbha, 12.6 cm high, in the right and the Merciful Goddess, 13.2 cm high, in the left.

Bodies of the statues are proportionate with each other, well harmonized in formative and artistic representation.
