Flood Claims Human, Material Losses in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- There have been heavy rainfalls in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea since the start of rainy season on July 18.

The flood caused by heavy rains and typhoon-7 from 18 to 19 has brought big damage to various parts of the country.

According to data available, the flood left eight persons dead throughout the country as of July 22.

More than 650 dwelling houses were destroyed and nearly 3,870 houses submerged, leaving more than 16 250 people homeless.

Some 30 public buildings collapsed, 11,960 square meters of roads destroyed in 410 odd spots and 2 930 meters of bridges damaged in nearly 30 spots.

Houses in North Hamgyong Province were most badly damaged.

Meanwhile, more than 230 hectares of farmland were washed away or buried and 2 340 odd hectares inundated throughout the country.
