60 Flood Victims Rescued in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 25 (KCNA) -- 60 flood victims were rescued in the DPRK.

Downpour hit northern inland areas of Korea from the night of July 22. 65 mm of heavy rain fell in Unsan County, North Phyongan Province for three hours at dawn of July 23.

In Jwa-ri, where water from three valleys of Mts. Phinandok and Tongrim and Uhyon Pass meets to flow to the River Kuryong, the river flooded in a moment, sweeping the residential quarters.

Residents including several children and women who failed to evacuate and workers who worked there jointly sought an emergency shelter in a hillock, fighting torrents of water. Isolated incommunicado, they did not find a way out, in panic at rising water. At that time a helicopter appeared.

After receiving an urgent report, the dear respected Kim Jong Un issued an emergency sortie order to a unit of the Air Force of the Korean People's Army.

On his order, servicepersons rushed to the scene aboard the helicopter and launched rescue operation immediately. With the helicopter finding it difficult to land due to mist hanging heavily, the servicepersons let the helicopter hover and lifted those one by one through rope ladder.

Making several shuttle flights, they conducted rescue operation and successfully saved all the persons including six who were at the risk of being washed away.
