New Service Facilities Built in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- New cultural and public service facilities were built in Pyongyang before the 59th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War to be greeted as a grand festival.

New edifices which would contribute to the people's cultural life were built on the occasion of day of victory in the Fatherland Liberation War along with Changjon Street in Mansudae area where statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il stand.

The Rungna People's Pleasure Ground covering an area of nearly 100 hectares was created as a cultural recreation area so successfully as to win admiration even in the distant future.

The Rungna Dolphinarium has already drawn seawater from the West Sea of Korea and is ready to present acrobatic stunts of dolphins.

Fantastic amusement facilities in the above-said ground include the Rungna Wading Pool consisting of four-line water slides, shower bath site, diving tower while amazing service facilities include the Rungna Funfair that houses mad mouse, free fall, octopus merry-go-round, etc.

The Ryugyong Health Complex has taken its splendid and wonderful appearance being equipped with the ultra-modern service facilities including bathrooms, barber's shop, beauty salon, sporting room for medical care and amusement grounds.

There is also the People's Open-Air Ice Rink which will help school youth and children and other people to enjoy various kinds of ice sports including skating, ice-hockey, figure skating and speed skating in all seasons.

In the area of Mt. Taesong the Pyongyang Folk Park was successfully built as a grand open-air folk museum which would bring younger generation to the knowledge of the Korean nation's history spanning 5,000 years and its brilliant cultural tradition.

It houses more than 80 major historical relics in their actual size or in miniature. Among them are the Mausoleum of King Tangun and King Tongmyong's Mausoleum, graves of historical persons, towers in Kumgang Temple, Miruk Temple and Hwangryong Temple, dolmen, pipha-shaped dagger, Korean udometer, turtle-shaped armored ship and the monument to the victory in the battle in the northern area of Korea.

Miniatures of buildings dating back to the periods of Koguryo and Palhae were also built in districts of folk villages covering tens of thousands of square meters, which would serve as a reminder of the high architecture of Korean ancestors.

The Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute were renovated on an expansion basis with new hundreds of greenhouses in areas covering a hundred and scores of hectares, turning into large-scale bases for research and production of vegetable and cultivation of flowering plants.

New appearance of Pyongyang suited to the capital of the powerful and prosperous DPRK is a fruition of the policy of loving the people pursued by leader Kim Jong Il who worked heart and soul to build a socialist country where the people would enjoy a happy life down through generations, undergoing all sorts of hardships for the people, and by the dear respected Kim Jong Un who dedicates himself to them with patriotism.
