Climatic E-map Available in DPRK Farms
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- A climatic e-map has been developed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, which helps domestic farms acquire details of weather conditions.

Scientists in the Hydro-meteorological Service and the State Academy of Sciences set up a database on geographical information on the basis of weather conditions they observed for scores of years.

The database is supported by the geographical information system (GIS).

The e-map shows 147 detailed index figures in 21 basic indices, including indices on temperature, precipitation, wind, seasons and disastrous weather.

A user can easily get access through computer to data on temperature, accumulated temperature, atmospheric humidity, amounts of sunshine and soil temperature in any area and place.

Ri Jong Jin, chairman of the Management Board of the Osan Co-op Farm in Jongju City, North Phyongan Province, told KCNA:

"The e-map helps me get well acquainted with geographical and climate conditions of my local area.

It will be conducive to boosting farm output."

Kim Chun Son, chief engineer of the Ryongho Co-op Farm in Rangnang District, Pyongyang, said that the e-map would be greatly helpful to putting farming on a scientific basis.
