Korean Book, Photo and Handicraft Exhibitions Open
Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibitions were opened in Russia, Mexico and Bulgaria between June 25 and July 4 on the occasions of the 18th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung and the 40th anniversary of the July 4 Joint Statement.

Displayed at their venues were works of the President and leader Kim Jong Il, photos of their feats, books and photos introducing Songun Korea and handicrafts associated with creative talents of the Korean people.

Speeches were made at the opening ceremonies.

The director of the Urangel Port Center in Nakhodka City, Russia said: President Kim Il Sung devoted all his life to the freedom and happiness of the people. The Russian people sincerely revere him. I wish the Russia-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations would grow stronger.

The chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Popular Party of Mexico praised the President as a brilliant strategist and peerless hero who defeated two imperialisms in one generation. Korea should be reunified according to the proposals set forth by him, the chairman noted.

The curator of the Cherven Bryag Cultural House of Bulgaria expressed expectation that the exhibition would contribute to promoting the friendly relations between the two peoples and developing cooperation and exchange in culture.
