Preparations Made in DPRK to Prevent Flood Damage
Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- An anti-flood campaign is gaining momentum in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport and its subsidiaries have finished improving water conservancy facilities in barrages and dams along the River Taedong, including the West Sea Barrage.

The Taedonggang Barrage Management Bureau and the West Sea Barrage Station are keeping barrages and dams ready for coincidence of flood and high water.

The Mirim, Ponghwa and other barrage stations have reinforced power systems to ensure the barrages' normal operation, while the Taedonggang and Namgang power stations took supplementary measures for non-stop operation of equipment in heavy rain.

The Hydro-meteorological Service has set up a database necessary to provide hydro-meteorological information in time.

Pyongyang City is finding out spots liable to be damaged by flood and remedying them in close touch with districts and industrial establishments in the city.

South Phyongan Province has reinforced facilities considered easy to be hit by flood and South Hamgyong Province has embanked and dredged all rivers and streams.

Similar steps are being taken in other provinces, too.
