Changsong County, Forerunner in Developing Local Industry
Pyongyang, July 13 (KCNA) -- Changsong County, North Phyongan Province, in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is known as a frontrunner in updating local industry.

President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime gave field guidance of 389 days to the county, making journey of 21,600 kilometers.

Kim Song Nam, manager of the Changsong Foodstuff Processing Factory, told KCNA:

"President Kim Il Sung's post-war visits to this remote mountainous county are always kept in the memory of its inhabitants.

Saying it was desirable to make effective use of mountains in the county, he personally climbed steep mountains to learn about what raw materials were available for its local industry.

He said that the county would be well-off if it developed local industry with wild fruits and other raw materials abundant in the area.

Thanks to his tireless efforts, the county with many mountains turned into an area with developed local industry.

In August 1962, the President convened a joint meeting of local party and economic officials in Changsong County, at which he underscored the need to raise the role of counties so as to further develop local industry and agriculture and radically improve the people's livelihood."

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the meeting. The county residents are now striving to update factories in the country as a model to be followed by other counties throughout the country.
