S. Korean Media Man Praises Changjon Street in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Jaju Minbo, a south Korean internet paper, on July 4 posted a letter written by Ri Chang Gi, its representative, behind bars under the title "Apartment Houses with beautiful curves in Changjon Street in the north."

The deepest impression one gets of the skyscrapers and multi-storied apartment houses in Changjon Street of the north reported by media is that many streamlines, circles and other curves were widely used in their architectural style, the letter said.

Noting this style arouses soft and comfortable feelings, it said that in consideration of profits world famous cities rarely build houses in such a curved way.

It continued:

But most of those apartment houses in Changjon Street have diverse curves. One can hardly find such break of rules.

A glimpse into their style shows that they are the first of their kind in the world in the sense that attention was focused on giving soft and comfortable feelings to people rather than on ensuring economic efficiency.

Moreover, it is said parking lots are built underground instead of creating them on the ground and its area is covered with parks.

It is also said shops and service facilities are available underground. It seems that a lot of efforts were directed to designing underground space in the light of the fact that they have many windows so they may admit sunlight.

Anyhow, it is certain that Pyongyang is such a city where architects can design any house to people's convenience.

It is my wish to see the day when designers in the south side would be able to join hands with the architects in Pyongyang to lay out a city to be proud of in the world.

Such fashionable apartment houses are available for Pyongyang citizens free of charge. How marvelous it is?
