Implementation of North-South Joint Declarations Urged
Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Federation of Koreans in the U.S. made public an article on July 4, the 40th anniversary of the July 4 joint statement.

The article urged the south Korean "government" authorities to opt for sincerely implementing the north-south joint declarations.

July 4, 1972 was the day when the three principles of national reunification -- independence, peaceful reunification and great national unity -- was proclaimed, the article said, recalling that the Koreans in the U.S. were overcome with joy and excitement four decades ago.

The three principles serve as a great programme for independent reunification to be invariably held fast to by the Koreans, it said, and went on:

The military dictatorial regime of south Korea dependent on outsiders, however, used this precious agreement of the nation as a lever for temporarily calming down the people's resistance against the "yusin system" and threw it away like a pair of old shoes in the end.

The publication of the June 15 joint declaration, an embodiment of the spirit of the July 4 joint statement, served as a historic watershed for ending the history of national division and marking a beginning of the era of national reconciliation and cooperation for reunification.

The Lee Myung Bak regime escalated moves for confrontation and war instead of pursuing reconciliation and cooperation in denial of the declarations.
