S. Korean Regime Urged Not to Abuse Ro's Return for Its Political Purpose: Press Release
Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The North and South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) on Tuesday made public the following joint press release:

Ro Su Hui, vice-chairman of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon, will return to south Korea through Panmunjom on July 5. He came to Pyongyang on March 24 to express condolences on the demise of leader Kim Jong Il, a big loss to the nation, as a compatriot.

His Pyongyang visit is a token of due courtesy observed to share the sadness of the nation with the fellow countrymen in the north. It is also a righteous deed in view of traditional beautiful manners and customs of the Korean nation and the spirit of national reconciliation and unity.

The south Korean "government" authorities, however, kept south Korean people from all walks of life from expressing condolences over the loss to the nation in December last year and are now threatening to arrest Ro Su Hui upon his return, terming his Pyongyang visit "illegal".

The anti-reunification conservative forces in south Korea are going to use Ro's return as a pretext for eliminating the progressive pro-reform forces through the "coloring offensive" against "forces following the north" and providing a political situation in favor of the upcoming "presidential" election for staying in power.

We solemnly declare that all the Koreans will never pardon the south Korean "government" authorities if they arrest Ro on the charges of the violation of the outdated "Security Law" and use his return for their political purpose, intensifying the frantic confrontation with the fellow countrymen in the north.

The North and South Headquarters of Pomminryon will as ever share pleasure and sadness with fellow countrymen and devote all to achieving national reunification with concerted efforts of the Korean nation, despite of any difficulties and ordeals.

We ardently call upon all the Koreans at home and abroad to fully support and welcome Ro's Pyongyang visit and return through Panmunjom, strongly condemn the south Korean authorities' plan to arrest him and pool efforts to implement the north-south joint declarations.
