Struggle for Vital Rights Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 1 (KCNA) -- Construction workers of Kwangju and South Jolla Provincial Areas of south Korea held a rally in the area around the Kwangju City Office on June 27 as part of a general strike.

At the rally speakers said that construction workers' vital rights are being further encroached upon due to the Lee Myung Bak regime's four large river project. A fabulous amount of money spent by the authorities filled only the purse of the construction capitalists, they noted.

The workers are undergoing sufferings as they fall short of receiving even insignificant wages, they deplored.

They condemned the regime for speaking only for the interests of businessmen, regardless of this. During the general strike they will struggle for the introduction of an 8-hour work system at major worksites, wage hike and priority to trade unionists in employment at construction sites, they stated.

If the authorities turn a deaf ear to earnest call of construction workers, they will wage a dynamic struggle to gain their vital rights by all means, they stressed.
