UN Abused by U.S. in Korean War
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The United States made a mockery of the United Nations in the Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).

On June 25, 1950, the U.S. imperialists started the Korean War and, at the same time, had UN Resolution No. 82 railroaded through the UN Security Council, which suggested unreasonably shifting the blame for the outbreak of the war on to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

On June 27, they had UN Resolution No. 83 adopted to "legitimate" their armed intervention.

On July 7, UN Resolution No. 84 was adopted to allow troops of the United States and its allies to take part in the war under the name of "UN forces" to be commanded by the U.S.

The resolutions were totally contrary to the UN Charter as they were adopted in the absence of a party to the dispute, without any detailed investigation into it.

Article 32 of the UN Charter says: "Any member of the Untied Nations which is not a member of the Security Council or any state which is not a member of the United Nations, if it is a party to a dispute under consideration by the Security Council, shall be invited to participate, without vote, in the discussion relating to the dispute."

Former USSR Foreign Minister A. A. Gromyko, in a telegram to the then UN secretary general, said that UN Resolution No. 84 (1950) had no legality as it was adopted without presence of the Soviet Union and mainland China, though any UN resolution would take effect when it gets full approval from the seven members of the UNSC including the five permanent members.

The resolution is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, and it allows the UN flag to be used as a mask to cover up the aggressive nature of the U.S. military actions against the Korean people, he added.

Clark, former commander of the "UN forces" in Korea, said in March 1967 that he had not received any instruction from the United Nations during the Korean War.

His confession showed that the command over of the "UN forces" was in the hands of the United States in contrary to the control system and principles of activities of UN forces.

On January 31, 1951, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution No. 90, which called for withdrawing from the UNSC list of discussions the agenda item on the Korean War, brought up by the United States on June 25, 1950. Hence it had no longer dealt with the Korean issue.

This meant that the UNSC itself recognized the invalidity of all its "resolutions" concerning the Korean War.
