U.S. Does Not Want Detente in Korea: Russian Radio
Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The Voice of Russia aired the following report as regards another grave provocation the U.S. and the Lee Myung Bak group of south Korea perpetrated by violating the sovereignty and dignity of the DPRK:

The joint military drill staged by the U.S. and south Korea last weekend did not have a good impact on the situation of the Korean Peninsula.

According to a report of south Korea, the DPRK flag was used as the target in the drill. Evidently, this was staged for a propaganda purpose, not for any technical one. Its objective was to provoke the DPRK and demonstrate its "muscle and determination".

According to observers, the period of the drill was also set to get on the nerves of the DPRK. The drill was kicked off in the run-up to the 62nd anniversary of the start of the Korean War.

Meanwhile, the south Korea-U.S. joint military maneuver was staged for three days in the West Sea of Korea with nuclear-powered carrier George Washington involved.

The vice-chief of the Center for Korean Studies of the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences said that the U.S. is fanning up the dispute between the north and the south of Korea.

He went on:

"South Korea, in particular, is escalating the tension. The U.S. is escalating the tension, while taking steps which indicate that it does not wish to see tension defused under the present situation."

The firing at the DPRK flag is dashing the hope that the six-party talks would be resumed soon though they take not an easy course.
