DPRK People Enjoy Worthwhile Working Life
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- It has been 66 years since President Kim Il Sung promulgated "Labor Law for the Workers and Office Employees in North Korea" on June 24, Juche 35 (1946).

The promulgation made it possible for the working people in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to have genuine rights and freedom of labor.

Under this law, the workers and office employees are granted the democratic rights in all respects such as eight-hour working system, paid leave system and social insurance system.

Kim Il Sung saw to it that popular labor policies were adopted one after another in the country, including the Cabinet decisions on enforcing the universal free medical care system, improving the living conditions of workers, engineers and office employees at state bodies, social cooperative organizations and industrial establishments and reducing the labor hours for working mothers.

On Apr. 18, 1978, the Socialist Labor Law was enacted to stipulate on a full scale all the requirements and regulations of the working life on the principle of strictly protecting the rights and interests of the working masses.

Leader Kim Jong Il had made every possible effort to let the people fully enjoy the worthwhile working and cultural life under the labor policies for the promotion of their well-being.

With this loving care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il kept in their mind, the Korean people have made great achievements in production and construction.

The DPRK is turning into a thriving socialist country by the patriotic and devoted efforts of the working masses.
