Games of Pyongyang Juvenile Sports Schools Held
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- The 49th Games of Juvenile Sports Schools in Pyongyang took place to fix the winners in the year of 2012 and select city players for the National Games of Juvenile Sports Schools to be opened in August.

In this contest, former winning teams took the lead in such events as weightlifting, women's judo, track-and-field, boxing, women's basketball and wrestling. But, results in some events went against expectations of sports experts and fans.

In the football event divided into four groups, men's and women's teams from primary schools in Phyongchon District won the titles while other six titles went to different teams from six districts or counties.

Its titles in the past contests had been obtained by football teams from Rangnang District. This district took five titles in the football event in one year.

Such unexpected results were also made in men's basketball, men's judo and women's volleyball events.

A sports expert told KCNA that the recent games showed further development of young players in physical fitness and technical skills.

Those qualified for the national games are now stepping up their training to prove successful in the forthcoming games.
