Drought Lingers in West Coastal Area of DPRK
Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- Some west coastal areas in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea witnessed not a small amount of rainfall on June 15-16.

According to date available at the Hydro-meteorological Service, 30 to 125 mm rainfalls were registered in most areas of North Phyongan Province.

It also rained in the western area of South Hwanghae Province and some areas of North Hwanghae Province.

But some areas are still affected by a long spell of drought. Most affected are some part of Pyongyang City, including Kangnam County, southwestern area of South Phyongan Province, Onchon area in Nampho City and western and southeastern areas in North Hwanghae Province, including Yonthan and Hwangju counties.

2 to 16 mm rainfalls were witnessed in northwestern and southern areas of South Hwanghae Province, including Haeju City and Anak County.

Rain is hardly expected for the western coastal area until June 26, affected by high pressure above the East Sea of Korea and the Sea of Okhotsk. The high pressure is likely to weaken on June 27 and 28.
