Wastes Turn Renewable in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 19 (KCNA) -- A dynamic drive is being conducted in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to turn wastes into renewable resources.

The Environment Protection Institute under the Ministry of Land and Environment Conservation succeeded in making quality organic fertilizer with sludge in the River Pothong. The Pothonggang Organic Compound Fertilizer Factory has already been built to go into full operation.

The City Management Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has developed heat-insulating materials and asphalt waterproof emulsion with urban and industrial wastes.

The heat-insulating materials, resistant to water and sound, are easy to make, giving no adverse effect on environment. The emulsion is highly effective in repairing roofs.

The Posan Iron Works has built a process of making industrial wastes renewable, in which it turns out hundreds of thousands of concrete blocks a year and collects dust coal in wastes to supplement households' fuel. It planted trees in the site piled with industrial wastes.

The Pyongyang Bearing Factory has made precision products by effective use of wastes and scrap iron.

The Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex applies scrap mica into making powder mica tapes.

Industrial establishments across the country are now striving to turn various kinds of wastes into renewable resources conducive to the economic construction.
