Relics of Koguryo Kingdom Unearthed in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- Ruined walls and mural tomb, believed to date back to the period of Koguryo Kingdom (277 B.C.- 668 A.D), have been unearthed in Pyongyang, the capital city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The relics, including roofing tiles, newly unearthed in Ansan-dong and Jongphyong-dong, Phyongchon District, are pieces of the ruined exterior wall of the Walled City of Pyongyang.

The discovery shows that it was a well-trimmed stone wall, with its foundation built in a peculiar way.

Meanwhile, a survey of the ruined walls of Joktusan in the area of Sonnae-dong in Mangyongdae District testified to the fact that the walls were built in the same way with the Walled City of Pyongyang and they served for defending the western Walled City of Pyongyang.

In another development, a mural tomb and a stone-chamber earthen tomb were unearthed in the Central Botanical Garden, which are believed to date back to around the 6th century.
