Security Guard for Former Dictator of S. Korea Criticized by Public
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- Traitor Chun Doo Hwan, chief culprit of the May 18 Kwangju massacre in south Korea, was disclosed to have received security guard from the Police Agency, sparking off public criticism.

The south Korean newspaper Hangyore in its editorial on June 15 revealed that Chun Doo Hwan was placed under armed security guard offered by the Police Agency during his recent visits to a military academy and a golf course.

Matter is that the agency has refused to disclose the data on conveniences offered to traitor Chun, calling it a "security item", the editorial pointed out.

That day a lawmaker from the Democratic United Party proposed a draft amendment to "law on provision of privileges to former presidents" which called for excluding those who were dislodged after being "impeached" or confirmed as guilty from the list of "ex-presidents" qualified for guard.

He accused the police of seeking to offer security forces and equipment in the future, too, as there are no limits as regards the provision of guard for the former "presidents" in law now in force.

Problem is the police provision of round-the-clock guard for traitor Chun who is wallowing in luxury, he said. Chun was convicted of having fostered civil strife and other charges at a court and is making default on the payment of a huge amount of money.
