Conservative Group of S. Korea Warned of Its Moves to Enact "Law on Human Rights in North"
Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Democratic Lawyers Association of Korea (DLAK) Monday issued a statement accusing the conservative group of south Korea including the "Saenuri Party" of making a desperate bid to enact "law on human rights in the north" at the 19th-term "National Assembly" at any cost.

The statement said:

The "Saenuri Party" is making such desperate efforts to enact the law, prompted by its bid to divert elsewhere the grievances of the people growing due to its unpopular policies and human rights abuses and kick up a row about "the forces following the north." Through this the party seeks to stifle the pro-reunification forces advocating alliance with the north and justify its moves to escalate confrontation with fellow countrymen in an effort to use those moves for its operation to win "the presidential election."

The above-said moves are dangerous ones to throw a hurdle in the way of implementing the north-south joint declaration, further bedevil the inter-Korean relations and ignite a war.

The DLAK vehemently denounces the moves as another grave politically-motivated provocation to the DPRK and a reckless action going against national reconciliation, unity and reunification.

The enactment of the law would mean the appearance of another anti-reunification fascist law besides the "Security Law" in south Korea.

This would also fan up the confrontation between the compatriots in the north and the south in social system and ideology and thus drive the inter-Korean relations into uncontrollable collapse and throw greater hurdles in the way of reunification.

This would, at the same time, help the conservative group further intensify the fascist crackdown upon the progressive, democratic and pro-reform forces in south Korea.

The "Saenuri Party" should not work hard to enact such ridiculous law but repeal the SL and adopt a law guaranteeing the rights of the south Koreans wantonly violated by the Lee Myung Bak group.

If the clan of the "Saenuri Party" seeks the passage of the bill through the "National Assembly" with its desperate moves, this will entail irrevocable consequences and then the conservative group will be entirely accountable for them.
