Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting and art performance of Koreans in Uzbekistan took place there on June 8 to mark the 12th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

Present there were Ju Yong Il, chairman of the Association of the "Old People" Inheriting the Korean Culture, its vice-chairmen, heads of various art troupes of Koreans and compatriots in Uzbekistan.

Displayed in their venue were a photo showing leader Kim Jong Il signing the historic June 15 North and South Joint Declaration and photos of immortal exploits performed by him in the cause of national reunification.

Ju Yong Il in his speech said that there took place eye-opening events unprecedented in the history of division after the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration such as brisk exchange and cooperation in all fields including politics, economy, culture and sports between the north and south, adding that they were ascribable to the tireless efforts and energetic leadership of Kim Jong Il.

He flayed the present south Korean authorities for totally negating the joint declaration, bringing the relations between the north and the south to a collapse and creating acute confrontation to be seen on the eve of war.

He urged all those who wish for national reunification to respect the June 15 joint declaration and turn out in actions to implement it, be they in the north, the south and abroad.

The Koreans in Uzbekistan will positively turn out in the actions to implement the joint declaration, expressing conviction that the historic cause of national reunification would be sure to be accomplished under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, he concluded.

The meeting was followed by a performance given by Korean artistes.
