Rodong Sinmun Assails US Ulterior Intention to Beef up Naval Force
Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Panetta at a recent meeting on Asian security blustered that the U.S. would deploy 60 percent of the battleships of the U.S. Navy in Asia-Pacific by 2020, adding that it would keep six aircraft carriers in this region.

The U.S. Defense Department worked out a plan for not only increasing the number of the warships in the region but providing the fleets with modern war hardware.

Rodong Sinmun Monday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard:

This is an anachronistic action against the desire and will of the world people who want peace and stability in this region.

What is more ridiculous is that he claimed "action of north Korea is making the situation unstable" and cited it as one of the threats to the U.S. while crying out for beefing up its naval force in the region.

The U.S. feels short of funds under the pressure for cutting down the military spending, but its warlike forces are mulling beefing up their naval force in this region. This shows how reckless they are going in their moves to maintain their hegemony.

What sounds also ridiculous is that Panetta claimed that such deployment of warships is not intended to blockade the powers in the region but this may be helpful to the development and growth in the countries in the region.

The arms build-up will certainly arouse great precaution and concern among the countries in the region. Accordingly, no country in the region will remain a passive onlooker to this.

Given that the U.S. is putting spurs to the reinforcement of its naval force under the pretext of the non-existent threat from the DPRK, it is left with no option but to take corresponding self-defence measures.
