Children's Camping Gains Momentum in DPRK
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Schoolchildren's camping is now in full swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, with the 66th birthday of the Korean Children's Union (KCU) as an occasion.

In the Pyongyang City Sokam Children's Camp, KCNA had an interview with its Director Kim Ki Bo and KCU instructor Paek Kum Chol.

Question: Please tell me how the camp is operated here.

Director: The camp organizes six-day camping in 28 terms a year, with more than 500 campers in a term.

The campers enjoy sightseeing aboard an excursion ship, boating and swimming in scenic Lake Kyonryong.

The schedule includes gatherings for introducing praiseworthy things and exchanging experience, folk games, recreation parties and sports activities.

The campers like camping-out. After making a 4 to 6 kilometer-long mountain-climbing, they begin a tented life, taking meals prepared by them.

Hundreds of campers are now staying here. They are from different schools in Pyongyang, including Pyongyang Segori Primary School in Pothonggang District.

Question: I think you, instructors, are playing a big role in organizing camping.

Instructor: We are working to diversify the camping and improve camping schedule to suit the children's mind.

We strive to train them to be dependable reserves for socialist construction, equipped with ample knowledge, high morality and healthy body.
