The contest will be held in Pyongyang, Hamhung, Sariwon, Nampho and other places of the country. Its participants will compete in 30 odd sports events including football, volleyball, basketball, table-tennis and marathon.

Its opening ceremony took place at Hyesan Stadium in Ryanggang Province on Sunday.

Present there were officials concerned, sports persons, working people and youth and students in Hyesan City.

Won Kil U, vice-minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.

The ceremony was followed by a football match.
