Children's Rights Fully Ensured in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- It is a consistent policy of the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to give importance to the children and fully ensure their rights and interests.

The DPRK government has given preference to ensuring children's rights in education, health care, family life and other fields.

Each child enjoys equal rights irrespective of family background, sex, jobs of parents or guardians, property relations and physical defect.

Children get to be mentally and morally sound in good health under the universal 11-year free compulsory education system and the universal free medical care system.

They can get after-school education in accordance with their talents. Branch schools operate even in remote mountainous areas and solitary islets.

Disabled children enjoy the same rights as others do.

Children, with no parents and guardians, are settled in baby homes, orphanages and schools for bereaved children.

"Best things to children!" this is what the DPRK government has maintained in its policy-making.
