Minju Joson Slams Crackdown upon Unified Progressive Party
Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities staged a search and confiscation operation against the Unified Progressive Party with a huge police force involved on May 21. This was hooliganism and unprecedented political terrorism perpetrated by gangsters who know nothing about politics.

Minju Joson Tuesday says this in a bylined commentary.

What should not be overlooked is that the group of traitors conducted the above-said operation under the pretext of linkage with the north, crying out for "the elimination of the forces following the north." This was one more unpardonable politically-motivated provocation against the DPRK, the commentary says, and goes on:

It is the consistent principled stand of the DPRK to implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, the great programme for reunification common to the nation, through the concerted efforts of the Koreans and thus improve the inter-Korean relations and reunify the country independently.

If the group wants the improved inter-Korean relations and independent reunification, it should favor the activities of the party.

What matters is that why the group is going on such fascist rampage, linking the party with the north. In a word, it is blinded by its ambition to stay in power through the "presidential" election in December.

The south Korean people are stepping up the preparations to judge the group of traitors in the "presidential" election. This poses a great threat to the "Saenuri Party" keen to stay in power.

The racket for "eliminating the forces following the north" was kicked up by traitor Lee Myung Bak and the "Saenuri Party" led by Park Geun Hye to crack down upon the Unified Progressive Party and break the solidarity among opposition parties in a bid to realize its wild ambition to stay in power.

The above-said search and confiscation operation against the party is a curtain raiser to the campaign to stifle the progressive forces of south Korea on charges of their linkage with the DPRK.
