The Seoul district police agency on May 22 made a forced search of offices and server of the Solidarity for Liberation as well as its management enterprises on charges of violation of SL and consequently arrested and detained its four members.

The speakers at the press conference asserted the suppression of the solidarity was just as same as quelling the just desire of the working people for a new society where the popular masses have become masters.

The police crackdown on labor movement organizations following a round of searches of the Unified Progressive Party building and confiscation of the party documents are clearly repression targeting the progressive and labor movement, they said.

SL merely serves as a means for maintaining authority of the capital and regime, they said, terming the existence of the evil law for over 63 years since its enactment a tragedy of the south Korean society.

They strongly urged the authorities to repeal SL that violates the freedom of thinking and political activities and immediately release the unreasonably arrested prisoners.
