Land Management Makes Brisk Headway
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Officials and other working people in South Hamgyong Province have registered many successes in improving rivers and streams and technically reinforcing roads as part of the campaign for land management.

A project was dynamically pushed forward to lead the course of rivers and streams straight and reinforce dykes, etc.

The officials and other working people in Pukchong County built several cement structures for the protection of the banks of the rivers and streams in the county and planted thousands of fast-growing trees along the banks.

Those in Hamhung city completed the project for improving both banks of River Songchon flowing through the city.

Those in Yonggwang and Sinhung counties and several other cities and counties improved the rivers and streams so that water may smoothly flow even in case of torrential rains and planted many trees to protect them from flooding.

The projects for building roads and technically reinforcing them are also making brisk headway.

Builders of Majon road have carried out the planned project at more than 85 pct by removing hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of earth and stepping up stonework and the work to lay the roadbed.

Those in Hongwon and Riwon counties and Tanchon City and others are accelerating the projects for technically improving the roads and planted over 10 000 trees of good species such as acacia and Pyongyang maple along either side of the roads.

The projects for reinforcing dozens of bridges are also progressing apace.

Several units including Puraesan Cement Factory are ensuring a timely supply of materials for the projects.
