DPRK Launches Countrywide Spring-season Drive for Land Management
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has launched a countrywide spring-season drive for land management.

The drive includes tree-planting, technical updating of roads, river improvement, and construction and repairing of apartment buildings and sewage treatment plants.

The capital city of Pyongyang stands in the van of the drive. Streets in Central, Taedonggang, Mangyongdae and Raknang districts have been face-lifted with various species of trees including Pinus strobus planted, more flower beds made and flowerpot stands set up.

Phihyon County, North Phyongan Province finished embanking all medium-sized rivers in the county.

South Hwanghae Province channeled efforts to restore farmlands and clean out a waterway in Yonbaek Plain. Songhwa County in the province is stepping up the construction and repairing of dwelling houses as well as building of sewage network and sewage purifying sites.

The drive gains momentum in North Hwanghae, South Hamgyong and Kangwon provinces.

Over two millions of saplings were planted in Koksan County and fire-arresting lines extending tens of kilometers built in forests around the scenic spot in Mt. Paekun in Yonggwang County. Wonsan City is pressing ahead with the construction of a large-sized tree nursery.

North Hamgyong Province is considered to be a countrywide frontrunner in managing roads.

Every year the DPRK sets spring and autumn seasons as periods of general mobilization for land management.
