S. Korean Christian Organizations Protest against Conservative Media's Misinformation
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Christian organizations in Kwangju area of south Korea on May 21 held a press conference to condemn conservative media's misinformation.

Speakers at the press conference accused Dong-A Ilbo of hurling all sorts of slanders and calumnies at Late Spring Mun Ik Hwan School in Kangjin County, South Jolla Province some time ago. It blamed the school for the fact that a congratulatory message from the north was read out at its first graduation ceremony and students of the school took part in an action against the import of American beef and the construction of the naval base on Jeju Island and May Day meeting.

The paper went the lengths of releasing a grossly distorted report that there is a former long-term prisoner who served a prison term on the charge of espionage among the teachers of the school and there are among parents of the students a culprit of the Wangjaesan incident and the co-representative of the Solidarity for Progress now on trial on the charge of violation of the "security law".

The speakers declared that this kind of tailored story written according to information provided by someone without verifying truth is a typical false and biased report of conservative media.

On May 19 parents of students of the school in a statement declared they would not remain passive onlookers to this false report of Dong-A Ilbo as it is a manifestation of merciless violence against children's seat of learning.

The statement urged the paper to make an apology for the distorted report and release a correction.
