Lays Foundations for Thriving Nation
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- With ardent patriotism, general secretary Kim Jong Il devoted all his efforts to laying sound foundations for a thriving nation.

Kaechon-Lake Thaesong and Paekma-Cholsan waterways have gone across western fields of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Fertilizer makers based on domestically available law materials were built in Namhung and Hungnam and the projects of reclaiming the second-stage Kwaksan tideland and the setups of reclaimed Taegyedo tideland came to completion.

Wonhung, Kosan, Taehongdan and Samjiyon areas turned into fruit and potato producers while numbers of fish farms were built on a modern basis across the country, including Kujang, Poman and Ryongyon.

The Huichon Power Station, Nampho-Pyongyang seawater pipeline and Tanchon Port have made their appearances.

Meanwhile, many light industrial factories have been streamlined.

In the period of the arduous march, the forced march, caused by the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK, the leader began to set a ground for building a thriving nation.

He traveled a 400-kilometer journey in a night in order to iron out knotty problems arising in operating a factory on a normal track and walked into a water-dripping coal pit. His guidance tours had never ceased even in midsummer.

Very pleased over the re-production of vinalon fibre 16 years after, he personally took part in a local mass meeting on a snowy day.

Now the Korean people are making big strides in the efforts to build a thriving nation under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.
