S. Korean Police Suppresses Media Trade Union
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean police on May 18 requested warrants of arrest for five core members of the trade union of MBC including its chairman and vice-chairman who are on strike for several months for freedom of speech, according to KBS of south Korea.

The MBC side indicted 16 core members of the union on charges of hindering the performance of duty in February.

In this regard, the trade union side denounced the authorities for harshly suppressing the trade unionists who demanded impartiality of media and right to existence while closing eyes to the corruption and illegality of the MBC manager.

The police's suppression is the joint product of the "government" and the manager, the trade union side stressed.
