Fair Reporting Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- Members of the Joint Action for Fair Reporting and civic and public organizations grouping people of different social standings of south Korea issued a press release at a press conference on May 8. They declared they would fully support the strike of members of media trade unions and join them in their actions till the freedom and democracy of the media have been regained.

The press release recalled that the strike of media trade unions including MBC, KBS, Yonhap News and Kukmin Ilbo has assumed protracted nature and the protest of reporters of Pusan Ilbo to protect the autonomy of media is going on.

Their strike is a just struggle to oppose the moves of the Lee Myung Bak "government" to put the media under its control that have lasted for the past four years and set right the public broadcasting system, the press release said, and went on:

This being a hard reality, Chongwadae and "Saenuri Party", directly responsible for the strike of media trade unions, are working hard to shirk off the responsibility and shun the solution of the problem.

The resignation of the die-hard managers of conservative media and fair reporting are the goals of the activities of media trade unions and the ardent desire of all the people.
