Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- Young scientists in North Phyongan Province of the DPRK are playing a pivotal role in developing IT industry.

Most of the employees at the IT Management Department and the E-Business Institute in the province are in their twenties and thirties.

Song Kwang Hun, chief engineer of the Institute, told KCNA:

"The Institute is staffed with scientists in their twenties, except a few managing officials in thirties including me.

As graduates of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Computer Science and Huichon University of Technology, they are possessed of profound knowledge, filled with energy and vigor.

In 2001, the inaugural year of the Institute, they developed the neurosis sorting program based on diagnosis index, which placed first in the national festival of science and technology that year.

They also developed hundreds of software pieces, including the sound and letter recognition programs which won high appreciation at various local competitions and festivals.

Many IT experts in the province make their way to Pyongyang and other cities to help promote the nation's knowledge-based economy."
