National Symposium on Greening Cities Held
Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- A national scientific and technological symposium on turning cities into thick woodland and greenery took place here on Wednesday under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Nature Conservation Union of Korea.

Read out at the symposium were valuable papers noticed among achievements made by scientists, technicians and working people in the horticultural field.

Speakers said that leader Kim Jong Il indicated tasks and ways for making the whole country woodland and greenery and stressed the need to put floriculture on the scientific and industrial basis when giving field guidance to the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute, in particular.

They expressed the will to more dynamically push forward the scientific researches to carry out the important tasks the dear respected Kim Jong Un set forth in his famous work "On Effecting a Drastic Turn in Land Management to Meet the Requirements for Building a Thriving Socialist Nation".

Introduced at the symposium were the specific features of cities that turned into woodland and greenery, the achievements made in establishing production system of major flowering plants and the establishment of the way of cultivating four-season balsam.

The papers were highly appreciated for their big practical significance in developing the greening work.
