New-type Trolley Bus Manufactured in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- A new-type Chollima trolley bus has been developed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The trolley bus is based on a magnetic switching motor and control system.

Its boarding capacity is 2.5 times the existing non-linked one and 1.4 times the linked one.

It is capable of carrying 170 to 180 passengers on an average.

It economizes more than 40 percent electricity compared with the previous ones and costs low in operation.

Its maker is the Pyongyang Trolley Bus Factory.

The DPRK manufactured the first trolley bus in 1961.

An opening ceremony for tramline of trolley buses took place in the plaza of the Pyongyang Railway Station on the eve of the May Day in 1962.

The buses began running in Chongjin, North Hamgyong Province in 1970 to be followed by other local cities.
