S. Koreans Warn Authorities against Renewed Import of U.S. Beef
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- South Koreans are becoming increasingly vocal accusing the "government" authorities of seeking to continue the import of American beef infected with mad cow disease.

The policy chief of the Confederation of Public Health and Medical Organization on April 30 asserted that the "government" should certainly keep the promise it made with the people in 2008 to immediately stop the beef import if mad cow disease breaks out in the U.S.

Nevertheless, the "government" is taking issue with the people's demand, talking about over-reaction to the mad cow disease, he said, and went on:

If examination proves positive for mad cow disease in 0.1 percent of imported beef, the result is clear with other beef.

Problem is the members of the investigation to be dispatched soon to the U.S. by the "government" and their activities. The south Koreans of different social standings are criticizing them as a tourist group, not investigation group.

A professor of Seoul National University held a press conference at Chonggye Plaza urging the "government" to deliver on its 2008 promise with the people and stop the import of American beef and hold renegotiations.
