Symposium on Medical Science Held in Pyongyang
Pyongyang, May 4 (KCNA) -- The 14th Pyongyang symposium on medical science of Koreans at home and abroad took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Thursday and Friday.

Present there were Ri Pong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the Medical Association of Korea, health workers and members of the delegation of Korean medical workers in Japan led by Kim Tae Sik, vice-chairman of the Korean Health Workers Association in Japan, and the delegation of Korean medical workers in the U.S. led by Pak Mun Jae, vice-chairman of the Federation of Koreans in the U.S.

Ri Pong Hun made an opening address to be followed by congratulatory speeches by Kim Tae Sik and Pak Mun Jae.

There was a general lecture on the "development of researches into the transplantation of organs" and "study of stem cell and the prospect for its development."

The participants heard papers dealing with "research into CD105 chain antibody for its production and use," "cholecystostomy," etc.

The symposium introduced achievements and experience gained in solving scientific and technological issues in health services and applying achievements in the ultramodern science and technology to prevention and cure of diseases.

Certificates were conferred on those who presented papers to the symposium.
